I may be an adult

But I often have li'l girl thoughts.

Airwaves: summer breeze - the isley brothers
"Summer breeze..makes me feel fine, blowin through the jasmine in my mind..."

Okay this won't happen to often (I don't think) but I'm going to post something PERSONAL. I wrote this this morning eating breakfast with my dad and my aunt on our deck and I liked the layout and the voice on it, so I've decided to share it..hope you like it, its taken directly from my childhood...

Oh shoot.

I'm so ready for the heat.
To bring it, get it, live it, etc.
Please give me an excuse to wear next to nothing,
I love clothes but I hate them, I just wanna be free
All i need,
A backyard,
Somebody please LIGHT up the grille.
Where is tae tae n 'nem wit the super soakers?

Bumpbumpbumpbump that music on 25 in yo beat up old Tahoe,
Please let me hear the local rap scene,
from all the way down the street.
Don't apologise, we in the hood.

Turn to 107.9...robin simone
Old school mix at noon with that technotronic and LL Cool J mash-up, I mean its a half an hour long but it last me the whole day

What's that? JonJon You hear that?
"MA! MA! CAN I HAVE TWO DOLLARS? THE ICE CREAM MAN COMIN!"

"Girl if you don't sit still so I can finish these braids"
On the porch til she done,
And I can be free
to roam on my bike, no hands,
Wheelie poppin.
Lets go to Hardesty, where is yo stereo? dance party in the park for real, after that we goin to Handels...

I need a banana pudding cream cone.

The Nat is full to capacity, so we can't go in
Til they come out
But its okay
Cuz the pool smell like pee,
And the lifeguards stopped caring a long time ago.

Man....I CHALLENGE you, get the ball.
Joy Park, naw naw we gone do it right here, right now,
Curb Ball tournament on Talbot. Hold on, time out
Here come
Them bad kids on they bikes...like hell on wheels.

After
they leave lets race
Down the street
"Hold on let me take my shoes
Off."

Niecey and her gang are comin, so I'm hiding in the
House,
Because I called her momma fat last week,
And she don't forget,
People in her debt.

Daddy, can we have some popsicles?
"Here's a ten, walk to the store and get some, get me a pack of winstons, and a slab of ribs too"
I'm like..ten years old
but
the arabs don't care about ID.
They just want the coins.

And then there he is...in the candy aisle
Lookin at Twix bars and Juju beans...
With that caramel coffee skin,
And dirty nikes,
Long eyelashes
And a short temper.

Hey...I smile
And he looks..and like a boy,
He ignores me,
Cuz I'm skinny
And nappy headed.
But I'm still in love..

And I run before he can tell me how
ugly he thinks I am,

But there's the lady who looks like
Anita baker at the checkout,
Who smiles and tells me to give my dad
A kiss from her.
Like I'm a black cupid,
Or the postal service,

And then its back to play,
Hide and seek til the streetlights come on,
And we go in,

Until
Sunrise tomorrow,

So I can do it
Again.

Ciao, Sal.

and i said what about

breakfast at tiffany's?
better yet...the library.

airwaves: dont you (forget about me) - tears for fears
"dont dont dont dont you...forget about meee"
(fist pump at the end)

so i got QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS about last weeks Drive in movie, so since this blog is for the people, i decided to give the people what they want. The masses have spoken and...BREAKFAST CLUB IT IS!!!!

i know this movie has been done every which way but i mean come on, its a CLASSIC. Out of all the members, the basket case that was Allison continues to be my favorite. She reminds me so much of how i wanted to be in highschool, cool, a loner, and a delinquent, however i was actually more like Claire..without the whole stuck up thought process. everything about this movie was so reminiscent of how i felt about highschool in a sense that it was prison..but i managed to have fun while i was in there. im not gonna get too deep into the metaphors but either way this movie was a CLASSIC, i wish John Hughes would start making flicks like this again..for more information on the BC..click HERE

here are the last lines....just for nostalgias sake:)

Brian: Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...
Andy: ...and an athlete...
Allison: ...and a basket case...
Claire: ...a princess...
Bender: ...and a criminal...
Brian: Does that answer your question?... Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.

Here's To YOU fellow Breakfast Clubbers!

Back in the day when i

Was young I'm not a kid anymore.

airwaves: love bomb - n*e*r*d*

"dont need another love song we need a love bomb...to just blow us a way"

(that space in "a way" is totally intentional....why everytime i hear this album its like listening 2 it for the first time...im still in love with it)

remember when fashion was FUN? i really miss those days, i was combing through my files on my computer when i came across these pictures from the first fashion show i ever worked back in my freshman year of college. it was so EXHILARATING to be a part of something that not a lot of people got to do. it made me find my niche in life and also allowed me to see what i thought i wanted to do forever. this is clearly not the case anymore but im so glad i was there. i would never want to go back and do it again..im satisfied with having done it the first time.

little red..in the big city..

i got to be a part of the hospitality bit and met Bre from cycle..like 3 or 4

of ANTM, she was really sweet and gave me an autograph
she's definitely the first celebrity i ever met, ill never forget that

i still heart you Bre, even if you were stupid drunk that night! lol

a young me, courtney and simone...look at those faces

sheesh!

p.s. that was my natural hair color at the time,
i miss it, im thinking of just letting this mess grow out..

the infamous mychael knight....nooo comment.

i still really love this picture of frederick, cam and i.

we look silly young but, i would have never taken back this moment for a second

*sigh* memories...

some of the best movies

were created in the eighties.

airwaves: baile funk #3 -m.i.a. and diplo -piracy funds terrorism vol #1
(i wish i could tell you what old girl was saying but...she was speaking portuguese)

If you haven't been to my house (or apartment when i was an atlien) then you don't know the extensiveness that is my DVD collection, ESPECIALLY the 80s portion of it, i love the late 80s, early 90s cult classics and still watch them on a regular basis, so while i was watching a golden oldie(The Wiz) THINKING about golden oldies.. i came up with the concept for a segment called "DRIVE IN". Drive In movies were so popular back in the day that i figured I'd do a weekly "Drive In" every friday but instead of doing a movie review on new releases...I'm doing it on the old CLASSICS. Get it? These are all movies that inspired my personal style, musical tastes, and even my way of thinking, even going back to some of my favorite black and white films. Since this is the first week I'm going to do one today and another on friday and then it'll continue there on the weekly basis. Tonight's film is: Pretty In Pink.

Pretty in Pink has played such a major role in my own personal beliefs, the battle between the richies in the riches and the...unrichies? is stillll going on and im ready for that mess to be over. im not going to go into TOO much detail about this movie because if you havent seen it then..you dont deserve to live(kidding) but it reaaally is the bomb.com, especially Duckie's character and his Otis Redding impersonation(you know that made me happy) so go see it, id like to do a longer post but i have sooo much to do today so sorry this one is kinna crappy but...you know ill be back!
